The largest social enterprise group in the east midlands has been awarded the UK's leading management standard for outstanding business performance.
The TREES Group, (Training, Regeneration, Education, Employment, Sustainability) based on Glenfield Road in Leicester, has achieved the prestigious Investors in People, the most successful framework for business improvement through people in the UK.
TREES joins an exclusive group of UK employers eligible to use and display the sought after Investors in People logo and plaque.
Commenting on the award, John Montague, Group Chief Executive said: "This is the first time that TREES, as a group, has been recognised as a true investor in its people. Accreditation signifies our long-term commitment to creating jobs for local people who continue to experience disadvantage in the labour market."
"It also recognises our dedication to creating apprenticeships and long-term training initiatives to address a skills shortage, particularly in the construction sector."
"IiP will certainly bolster our expertise, business acumen
and credibility in front of so many more potential funders and partners."
TREES was founded in 1995 with the aim of creating jobs, training opportunities,
local services and wealth in deprived communities across the midlands,
supporting community regeneration.
The Group supports four self-contained social enterprises which have already independently achieved IiP status: regeneration and construction company, Newlife; Thorpete Gas Services; conference venue Highpoint; and landscaping firm, Ground Control.
Simon Jones, Chief Executive of Investors in People UK, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for TREES. I would like to congratulate the organisation and its people on their commitment to continuous improvement."
"Investors in People offers a flexible, practical and easy to use business improvement tool designed to help organisations and their people enhance performance and meet goals. I hope that more organisations in the area will be encouraged to sharpen their competitive edge by choosing to work with us."
