TREES supports new Welsh construction social enterprise

November 2007

An innovative partnership between the TREES group of social enterprises and construction consortium Build Wales is set to take the Welsh building industry by storm.

The TREES group has nearly ten years experience of using regeneration to create employment in the construction sector and now the team has been asked to share their experience with Welsh construction consortium Build Wales.

Build Wales has been formed by a group of leading Welsh community based development trusts to take part in an estimated £4billion improvement programme to social housing in Wales while training local people in construction and maintenance skills.

Following extensive talks, the TREES group, which encompasses Newlife Regeneration Construction Ltd, has agreed to work with Build Wales to establish a business model that will develop employment opportunities and enhance housing standards in Wales.

John Montague, Chief Executive of TREES and lead consultant, said: "We are pleased to be working with them to establish this business model and look forward to sharing our knowledge."

The partners are all members of the Development Trusts Association Wales based in the Heads of the Valleys region - Penywaun Enterprise Partnership,Arts Factory, The Bryncynon Strategy, Ebbw Vale Development Trust and Glyncoch Community Centre.
